Here’s a new single-handed 24-hour watch, from Jacopo Dondi:
This watch has just been launched on Kickstarter, so if you want to make sure you get hold of one, go and sign up now.
If the name seems familiar, you may be thinking of the de’ Dondi family, famous Italian clockmakers from the 14th century, Jacopo de’ Dondi, father, and Giovanni de’ Dondi, his son. Giovanni is the better known today: his Astrarium, which he designed and built over a period of 16 years, was a highly complex astronomical clock/planetarium with seven dials and over a hundred gears. The dials showed the positions of the stars, Venus, Mercury, the moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars. This watch, with its single hand, is modelled more after his Dad’s big clock.
